Jeffrey K. Coreil (’09) to Receive the 2014 American Inns of Court Sandra Day O’Connor Award for Professional Service
Jeffrey K. Coreil (’09), an associate with NeunerPate, has been selected to receive the prestigious Sandra Day O’Connor Award for Professional Service by the American Inns of Court. The annual award honors an American Inn of Court member in practice for ten or fewer years for excellence in public interest or pro bono activities.
“I was extremely honored to learn that my colleagues nominated me for this award, and I was speechless when I was selected. And, for those who know me, I’m rarely short on words,” said Coreil. “Although this is an individual recognition, it would never have been possible without the tremendous support and contributions of my wife, family, friends and colleagues.”
Since beginning his practice, Coreil has contributed more than 388 hours of legal work to the impoverished and victimized citizens of Lafayette Parish. Actively involved in the Lafayette Volunteer Lawyer program, he spearheaded the Counsel on Call, which offers 15-minute conferences with volunteer attorneys for basic legal advice. As a member of the LVL Protective Order Panel, Coreil assists victims of domestic violence with their petitions for Title 46 protective orders. He also accepts pro bono civil cases and coordinates the efforts of volunteer attorneys to assist homeless individuals through H.E.L.P. for the Homeless.
Honors Coreil has received include the 2013 Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) Crystal Gavel, the 2012 LSBA Pro Bono Publico Award and the Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Award, and the LSBA Pro Bono Century Award in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
While at the Law Center, Coreil served as president of the student bar association and president of his class.Read More >
