Copyright Litigation in Big Firms. Tom Nolan will speak on copyright litigation in the major firms and how to get involved in that area of practice. Tom got interested in copyright law for the same reason most people do – it’s the law of music and movies, and he studied trombone in college at the height of the pre-Napster file sharing era. While at Quinn Emanuel in Los Angeles, he worked on one of the major cases applying the safe harbors of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (Perfect 10 v. Google), and after moving to Loeb & Loeb in New York he has worked on winning cases for Fox (for the Percy Jackson films and the TV series Touch), David Guetta (for The Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling), and Sony Pictures (for Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris). Tom will address the practical realities of this practice – the types of clients and cases, and the challenges in getting hired and getting a good and efficient result for your client.
Lunch will be provided.
