Olivier Moréteau
Russell B. Long Eminent Scholars Academic Chair

Professor Olivier Moréteau is the former Director of the Edouard Lambert Institute of Comparative Law at the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, France, where he has been Assistant Professor (1982-1990), Associate Professor (1990-1998), and then Professeur agrégé. He also served as Director and Vice President for international relations at this university (1993-1999). He earned his Ph.D. summa cum laude (also winning prestigious prizes), at the Université Jean Moulin, 1990, after research conducted in Cambridge with a British Council scholarship. He has been visiting professor at the University of Minnesota (1992), Boston University (1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2004) and the University of Melbourne (2002, 2004). He has published books in French on English business law and the structure of legal systems as well as a number of articles in French and in English, in international periodicals or books, on English law, comparative law, law and languages, tort law, and the law of obligations. He is a member of the International Academy of Comparative Law, the European Group on Tort Law, the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law, the Société de Législation compare, American Law Institute, and the Order of the Coif. Professor Moréteau was named the first holder of the Russell B. Long Eminent Scholars Academic Chair in the summer of 2005.

Jennifer Lane

Jennifer Lane holds B.A. degrees in History and Sociology from Louisiana State University, and attended the University of Maryland prior to transferring to LSU. While a member of the United States Army, she studied Spanish at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California and served in Panama and at the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, Maryland. As a White House Intern in 1994, she worked in the office of Ira Magaziner on Health Care Policy. She worked at a non-profit agency for nine years, and as administrative supervisor co-authored three successful contract proposals that funded the agency. A native of Seattle, Washington, Lane has lived in Baton Rouge since 1995.

Alexandru-Daniel On
Research Associate

Alexandru-Daniel On received his degree of LL.B from the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 2010. He holds an LL.M in Private Law (Babes-Bolyai University, 2011) and an LL.M in Comparative Law (Louisiana State University, 2013). He is the recipient of the first A. N. Yiannopoulos Endowed Scholarship (for the academic year 2011-2012). His research and publications are focused on the law of torts, the law of obligations, and legal translation. Alexandru-Daniel On is also a Managing Editor of the Journal of Civil Law Studies.
