The LSU Law Center Computing Services Helpdesk is located in Room 317 Law Center and can also be reached online through this site or at 225-578-4898 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The helpdesk is staffed by three full-time technology support professionals. Law Center faculty, staff, and administration depend on the helpdesk for assistance with computer hardware and software, from installation and maintenance to assistance in learning and using programs and equipment.
Students depend on the helpdesk for assistance with personal laptops, both Windows and Macintosh. Walk-in assistance includes setup and troubleshooting for the LSU wireless network, antivirus software, Student Print Center access, exam software, and Law Center logon ID help. Additional student support is available as time permits and includes virus and spyware disinfection, data recovery from crashed systems, and system cleanup.
Helpdesk customers can access Footprints, a web-based helpdesk tracking system, to request assistance or track their support issues. Footprints can be accessed using the link below, and requires a Law Center logon ID and password (this is different from myLSU).

Support for Faculty & Staff Personally Owned Computers
The Law Center IT Department offers limited support of faculty and staff personally owned computers and cell phones as a means of supporting the business functions of the Law Center.
For computers running the current and previous 2 major versions of Microsoft and Apple OS’s (currently Windows 8, 7, and Vista, and OSX 10.9, 10.8, and 10.7), assistance with the following is available:
- Connection to the LSU wireless network
- Activation of Microsoft Office provided by the University
- Configuration of Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail to connect to the Law Center email server
- Installation of University provided antivirus software
- Creating a link to the Law Center file server (https://lawsrv1.law.lsu.edu)
For smartphones and tablets (iPhone/iPad, Android, Windows), we offer assistance in connecting to the LSU wireless network and the Law Center email server. Because phone models and software vary greatly, it is possible we may not be able to connect all devices. It should be possible to connect recent models running current versions of Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android.
The Law Center does not provide “full service” computer repair and maintenance on personally owned devices. For problems such as failing or broken hardware (keyboards, disks, screens, etc.), virus/malware detection and removal, performance issues, general maintenance, installation and updating, we encourage colleagues to consult any of a large number of local businesses offering diagnostic and repair services.
