The law library welcomes alumni and visitors, including members of the bench, bar and general public. In addition to our collection of general legal materials, we have a variety of Louisiana-specific practice guides, formbooks, and treatises. Visitors may use the law library’s various collections onsite.
Our reference librarians are available to provide assistance with locating and using library resources and to answer questions about how to perform legal research. However, they cannot interpret the law or provide legal advice. Persons needing assistance in analyzing a legal problem are advised to consult an attorney.
Wireless Network Access
Visitors of the law library may access the Law Center’s wireless network with a guest password. To obtain a guest password, visit the law library’s Reference Desk.
Copiers and Scanners
There are two photocopiers available on the first floor of the law library. Copies cost $.06 per page. Although the copiers do not accept cash, visitors may purchase a guest Tiger Card for use in the copiers. Guest Tiger Cards cost $1.00 each and can be purchased from the Tiger Cash machine near the copiers. Additional funds may be added to the guest cards using the same machine. The Tiger Cash machine only accepts bills, not change. No one in the Law Center or law library can make change.
The law library also provides two BookEye overhead scanners – one in the Reserve Room and one in the Print Center area – which allow you to scan PDFs of library materials free of charge and email them to yourself or save them to a flash drive. Instructions for using the scanners are available on their touch screens.
The law library provides visitors with limited onsite access to our collection of electronic databases. Visit the Reference Desk for assistance with accessing these databases.
