Patrick Juneau Named 2006 LSU Law Center Distinguished Alumnus of the Year

Patrick A. Juneau, Jr. of Lafayette was named the LSU Law Center 2006 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. Juneau was honored at the Law Center’s Distinguished Alumnus banquet held November 1, 2006.

Chancellor John J. Costonis announced the selection of Juneau stating, “Mr. Juneau represents the highest standards of the profession. He is a person of integrity and a true role model—both in his personal and professional life. He has served the legal profession admirably, with an unwavering belief in the ideals of the law. Mr. Juneau is highly respected throughout the state and nation and is most deserving of this award.”

Juneau obtained his Juris Doctor from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1965. He is in private practice at the Juneau Law Firm in Lafayette.

He has received many honors throughout his distinguished career. Juneau is the past president of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and was elected to and served as a member of the Louisiana Constitutional Convention, the body that drafted the new Constitution for the State of Louisiana, in 1973. He has served as the mediator in over 2,000 cases. The cases have been throughout Louisiana and have involved both state and federal court actions. He has been appointed a designated mediator by federal and state courts and has also served as the court-appointed Special Master in numerous federal and state cases, including many complex and multi-party matters.

He has been a frequent guest lecturer at the LSU Law Center and Tulane Law School. In 1996, Juneau was awarded the Curtis R. Boisfontaine Trial Advocacy Award by the Louisiana Bar Foundation.

Following his graduation from law school, Juneau served as president of the LSU Law Alumni Association in 1982. He is also one of the founding members of the Law Center Chancellor’s Council. In 1987, he was inducted into the LSU Law Center Hall of Fame. He currently serves as a member of the Law Center Alumni Board of Trustees.

The Law Center’s Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented to individuals who exemplify the highest quality and ethical standards of the Law Center. The award recognizes personal and professional achievements and loyalty to one’s alma mater. Nominations for the award are submitted by members of the Law Center Alumni Board of Trustees and the chancellor of the Law Center. An advisory committee determines a final selection.
