Lawyer and journalist Adam Liptak was the guest speaker at the annual LSU Law Center Chancellor’s Council dinner that was held at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center on March 2, 2012. Mr. Liptak, who covers the U.S. Supreme Court for The New York Times, discussed cases pending before the Court. Mr. Liptak also spoke with students and the LSU community earlier in the day in a special event hosted at the LSU Law Center.
Mr. Liptak, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in explanatory reporting, joined The New York Times’ legal department in 1992 where he frequently litigated media and commercial cases, and represented several Louisiana daily papers owned by The Times. He moved to the news staff in 2002 and began covering the U.S. Supreme Court in the fall of 2008.
The Chancellor’s Council dinner recognizes alumni and friends of the LSU Law Center who are Chancellor’s Council members and others who have provided major gifts to the Law Center. Annual contributions from Chancellor’s Council members are used to support a variety of student and faculty activities, academic programs and alumni services. Student financial aid, facility and technology improvements, as well as other initiatives that enhance the standing of LSU Law, would not be possible without the generosity of our Chancellor’s Council members and major gift donors.
