Emergency Message on Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac

Back

Dear LSU Law Students, Faculty, and Staff:

The Law Center, along with the entire LSU Community, is closely monitoring Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac and its potential impact on Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.  As is our custom, the Law Center will be guided by the LSU A&M campus in determining whether campus closures and class cancellations are in order.  No firm determination has been made yet, but based on the information currently available to us, it is likely that the LSU campus, including the Law Center, will be closed beginning tomorrow (Tuesday) and that all classes will be cancelled.  We expect a final determination later today as more reliable weather alerts are issued.  If classes are cancelled, please note that all related and extracurricular activities at the Law Center also will be cancelled.

Further, updating  e-mail messages regarding Law Center closures will be sent by Vice Chancellor Greg Smith.  Announcements also will be posted to our website and available on the Law Center Information Line (225-578-5292, option #6).  Messages will also be distributed through the LSU Emergency text message service.  We strongly encourage you to sign up for this service if you have not done so already.  To subscribe, please log in to your “My LSU” account, click on “Personal Preferences” and “Emergency Contacts” and enter your cell number.

Finally, we urge you to monitor local media for current information about this storm and its likely path. Above all else, please do not underestimate the potential seriousness of the storm, and do take the appropriate precautions to insure that you and your families remain safe.  With my very best regards. Jack Weiss
