For the fourth consecutive year, LSU Law has ranked within the Top 10 Best Value Law Schools in the nation by the National Jurist, a legal education publication.   Coming in at #8, LSU Law is the only Louisiana law school, public or private, included in the Best Value rankings.

According to the publication, the Best Value ranking “is designed to find the law schools where graduates have excellent chances of passing the bar and getting a legal job without taking on a ton of debt.” The magazine considers the following when ranking the nation’s law schools: percent of graduates who pass the bar exam; employment rate; tuition; cost of living; and average indebtedness upon graduation.

LSU Law students traditionally achieve the state’s highest bar exam passage rate, and employment numbers for the school have remained strong, even in the face of national placement declines. LSU Law Center students achieved the state’s highest bar passage rate, according to results released in October 2013 by the Committee on Bar Admissions of the Louisiana Supreme Court. For the Class of 2013, 92% of LSU Law graduates were employed as of nine months after graduation, with 98% reporting. Some 69% of the graduates were employed in positions where bar passage was required; an additional 14% were employed in positions where J.D. was an advantage.
