John P. Laborde Receives The 2013 Pope John Paul II Award: Family and Faith Inspire a Lifetime of Service
LSU Law alumnus John P. Laborde was honored as the 2013 Pope John Paul II Award Recipient by the Catholic Foundation of the Archdiocese of New Orleans on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.
LSU Law Center Chancellor Jack M. Weiss has announced the creation of the Liskow & Lewis Visiting Professorship in Energy Law, an endowment established through a gift by the Liskow & Lewis law firm. The Professorship provides funds to bring distinguished scholars in energy law and closely related fields to the Law Center on an annual basis as part of the LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center. Professor Hannah Jacobs Wiseman, a rising star in the field of energy law, delivered the inaugural lecture for the Liskow & Lewis Visiting Professorship in Energy Law series.
The LSU Board of Supervisors today approved naming of the Energy Law Center of the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in honor of John P. Laborde, LSU Law Class of 1949. The newly established academic and research center henceforth will be known as the “LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center” in recognition of Mr. Laborde’s commitment to the Center and the school.
LSU Law Center Chancellor Jack Weiss today announced the appointment of Robert D. Sloan as the first director of the LSU Energy Law Center and Professor of Professional Practice. The appointment is effective November 1.
The Louisiana Board of Regents granted formal approval of LSU Law’s Energy Law Center, the first such center in Louisiana and one of a handful operating in law schools nationwide, at their August meeting. The Center will prepare lawyers for the full range of 21st century practice in the complex world of energy law.
