Class of 2015 Celebrates Hats ‘n Canes

The Class of 2015 celebrated the annual Hats ‘n Canes celebration on Saturday, October 25. The graduating class gathered on the front steps of the Old Law Building sporting black hats and carrying canes, as Chancellor Jack Weiss toasted the class using the cane of the Law School’s first dean, Joseph Kelly.

Chancellor Appoints Diversity Task Force

In response to an expression of concern from the President of the Black Law Students Association and another student, Chancellor Jack Weiss announced yesterday the appointment of a broadly based task force that will consider and make recommendations to the faculty and the Administration on means by which the Law Center can help all students, including minority students, succeed, foster camaraderie, and promote better understanding of one another’s cultures and experiences. The task force will include students, Law Center faculty and staff, and graduates of the Law Center.

2nd Annual Legal Career Summit & Public Interest Law Society Job Fair: January 24, 2015

LSU Law Center will host the 2nd Annual Legal Career Summit & Public Interest Law Society Job Fair on Saturday, January 24, 2015. Open to all LSU Law students, the summit is a “one-stop shop” to prepare students for job searches, career planning, selecting a practice area, and more! The summit will also include an employer networking lunch and PILS Job Fair.

LSU Law Students Achieve State’s Highest Passage Rate on July 2014 Bar Exam

LSU Law Center students achieved the state’s highest passage rate among all examinees on the latest Louisiana State Bar Exam, according to results released October 17 by the Committee on Bar Admissions of the Supreme Court of Louisiana. The results are for test takers who sat for the statewide Bar examination in July 2014.
Of all LSU Law test takers in July, 81.50% successfully passed the exam. Among LSU graduates taking the bar exam for the first time, 85.81% passed.

Don’t Miss the Boat! 2015 LSU Law Apprenticeship Week

Second- and third-year LSU Law students will have the opportunity to participate in Apprenticeship Week, January 5-9, 2015. During this week, master lawyers and judges will teach LSU Law upperclass students in small enrollment, hands-on mini-courses. Each mini-course will aim to provide students with focused, task-oriented training not generally available in law school courses and usually available only through actual practice experience.
